What a fantastic night! We started by first helping at the North County Women’s Shelter. We stayed to help make and pass out popcorn! The street officially opened at 6pm, and the line never once stopped until 10! Whew! But I did get a chance to walk Vine with my family-check it out an enjoy! Some of the pics are blurry…all part of the effect 😉
Then we came upon Ebinezer Scrooge’s house! Scrooge himself come out trying to chase the crowds away, but we all gather and send him thoughts of merry and cheer anyway! It’s a show that lasts the whole time! We found out later that the man had actually sold the house about three years ago. But the city asked him to come back every year…so he takes his yearly vacation in December in Calfornia, always making Vine Street a priority!
So along the way we get some hot chocolate and one house, cookies at another, roasting marshmallows, chestnuts, candycanes, cider, and yes…face painting…all for free! Talk about great holiday spirit!
It was a wonderful night for us as a family…a bit of volunteering, a bit of play and bit of fun! May your holidays be filled with the spirit of kindness, laughter and goodwill! Thanks so very much for reading!
