Traditionally speaking!

In our household, the fervor of Halloween leads right into the feelings surrounding the fall: warmth, togetherness, giving thanks, etc. Now with Thanksgiving right around the corner, we are in the mode of creating family traditions! We try to remind ourselves through the year that family traditions aren’t just about the holidays, but also the everyday! But something about the fall gets me in my family mode to create simple precious memories to savor.

On the way to our sleepy little town is a pumpkin farm called La Familia. Its rustic charm on a cool crisp day make this place a perfect family stop. The kids love the corn maze and the walk through the animal trail to see all the farm animals.  And of course there is the picking of the pumpkins! You feel simple and easy going here…a bit more relaxed. I’d say that’s a nice way to start the fall, before the rush of the holidays…a nice way to start with a new tradition!

Place: La Familia Ranch, 4737 Los Osos Valley Rd, Los Osos, Ca 93402

Hours: 11am -5:30 daily

Cost: free to look around; pumpkins, squash, gourds, & sunflowers all reasonably priced for purchase. We purchased a couple of medium sized pumpkins, some gourds and squash for around $15!

Enjoy & Happy Traditions!!
