Tricks and Treats Around Monterey Bay

Ghoulies and goblins will venture out this weekend, calling “trick or treat” as they collect candy from neighbors and friends. Making sure your little ghost is having a safe, yet fun, time is a parental priority. There are all sorts of Halloween weekend events with high fun factor and low scare ratings — from a teen monster mash to a masquerade in a marine lab to a fair at a farm.

Get the creepy-crawlies by listening to the Youth Music Monterey’s “Classical Creepies” or by visiting the bats and spiders at the Pacific Grove Museum. For a bit of a scare, try Roaring Camp’s train trip through the Legend of Sleepy Hallow.

Safe trick or treating events are being held by Monterey’s Lighthouse District, Del Monte Shopping Center, Downtown Santa Cruz, Capitola Mall and the Santa Cruz Wharf. Though most of the “safe” trick or treating events are happening on Halloween itself, Monterey’s Lighthouse District’s event happens on Saturday instead.

Have a Happy Halloween!
